Sobre Las Carreras
It was built by the Jesuits around 1718 and acquired by ancestors of the Frías Silva family from the Junta de Temporalidad—the entity selling these properties—in 1779. It is one of the oldest ranch estates in the valley. The ranch was expanded and renovated to provide the comfort travelers need, but great care was taken to preserve the style and layout typical of that era, in which all the rooms opened onto two courtyards. The thick walls are one of the typical features of buildings from that era. It is built entirely from local materials such as adobe (mud brick), cane, straw, alder wood, leather straps, and stone.
